What are the types of diabetes?

Type 1 diabetes - This type of diabetes results when the pancreas fails to produce insulin due to the loss of beta cells leading to insulin deficiency. It is also referred to as` insulin-dependant diabetes mellitus` or `juvenile diabetes` since the majority of the people with this type are adult . This form must be managed with insulin injections. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease and does not have an exact cause though genetic and environmental elements such as viruses play an important role in why this happens.

Type 2 diabetes - This type of diabetes results when the body doesn’t utilize enough the insulin produced by the pancreas. It is also called adult-onset diabetes since it used to start almost always in middle and late adulthood. Surprisingly nine out of ten people with diabetes have Type 2 and is really a different disease. People who are over 40 years old are more likely to have this form but, if risk factors are present, it can occur in childhood as well.
